Head has once again come out with 3 racquets for the 2012-2013 season in what they are calling the "Deadly" series. These racquets are named the Black Widow 160g, Scorpion 170g, and Cobra 180g.

Over the last bunch of years Head has produced head heavy playing frames (weight distributed towards the top half of the frame). This year the balance on the Black Widow and Scorpion frames are right around even balanced and the Cobra 180g is actually a tad head light which means the weight is distributed slightly below the middle of the frame. What does this mean for you? This will give you the most powerful and maneuverable frame Head has ever produced and if you are a Head racquet fan this might be the best racquet you've ever hit.

Head Engineers packed these frames with the latest technologies including a new space age material called Innegra, the lightest high performance fiber material in the world. Innegra brings unparalleled power, stability and vibration control to the courts.

Paralyze your opponents with fear as you crank up the venomous power of HEAD'S Deadly Series. BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!

These are available in 3 5/8 grip size only.

If you're unsure about your model or weight...try our DEMO Program.

A racquet cover IS NOT provided by the manufacturer with this racquet. You have the option to add a cover for $8-$12 if you would like.

    RacquetWorld General Notes

RacquetWorld recommends changing the grip to a Python (Our favorite), which will be $12.00 installed, for the added traction to prevent slippage.  The Racquetworld Grommet Tape upgrade ($2) can save you $$ in the long run as sometimes strings break from the grommet being worn down. For those who don't know what the grommet is, it's the plastic piece at the top of the racquet that the strings go through. When you hit the wall and floor this gets worn down.

The Python Atlas Deluxe string upgrade is recommended because factory string is less playable/durable than the Python Atlas Deluxe string we suggest. At the time of purchase, the Python Atlas Deluxe restring upgrade is $29.95.  It's normally $45 if you mailed the racquet to us later so you save $15 if you choose the upgrade right away. This string comes in Black or Natural and it’s a very soft string with incredible playability/durability. We recommend the 17g as it’s right in the middle of 16g (most durable) and 18g (most playable but less durable).

If you choose a vibration dampener go with the Python Vibration Dampner (Our favorite), Head Megasorb, Gamma Worm or the BBB (Big Bad Band).

The wristlacer black is the default wrist tether that comes on your racquet at no charge. If you want to change colors, a small fee of $3.95 will be added for switching.

A question we get everyday is "What is Grommet Tape?"It's a piece of tape that goes over the head (bumper) of your racquet. Sometimes you need a restring because of a broken bumper. For an extra 2 bucks to add this, it could save you $25-40!!

We get follow up calls/emails everyday thanking us for the upgrades as they really help bring out the performance of the racquet.

Racquet Covers - Choose one for $8-$12 (RacquetWorld Cover is Only $8.00)

A full racquet cover is NOT provided by the manufacturer with this racquet. You have the option of adding a full cover for $8-12 if you would like. If you want the best cover on the market buy the Racquetworld Cover. It is oversized, has a full outside pocket, a handle strap and a large shoulder strap as well as a ventilated pocket to let your grip breathe and best of all its $2-$4 less than the others because we want to help you by supporting our company! The charge will only be $8.00 when added to the cart for this choice instead of $10.00-$12.00 like the other covers.

This is a nice, super light racquet. It has definitely helped with my upfront game where I rely on speed and quick reaction. I am able to quickly flip my wrist and angles back and forth to battle the everything trying to get past me. Due to it’s lightweight, it is hard for me to not try and smash everything!

I received my Black Widow in 3 days. I started playing with it immediately and I am pleased with its accuracy and sweet spot. I am 77 years old and play 5 days a week but have depended on accuracy more than speed or power for the past few years!

A great racquet at a great price. I ordered it with upgraded strings and grip. Definitely the best grip I have ever used. The racquet provides plenty of power at 160 grams with no loss of control. Plus, it’s great looking. Highly recommended.

I really love this head racket. It's lightweight and I feel very precise. I also think it's very durable I'm on my second one and it's holding up really well. I think the price is very reasonable. I can't think of any negatives.

I really enjoy playing with this racquet. The weighting feels perfect to me and lets me swing with the speed I want. It has good power and solid control. For the cost it might be the best 160-g racquet out there. I can't comment on durability yet but the quality is excellent and I have won more games since beginning to use it.

Best racquet so far, excellent short game

I've been playing for 8+ years several times a week and this racquet has dramatically improved my short game. It has power and control. It does well from the back court but really shines up front. It seems like the racquet does the work in my short game. I put out my racquet and the ball drops dead in the corner. I absolutely love the weight and balance. I used to play with I165 which is a great intermediate racquet but the widow outshines and outperforms it. I just ordered another one so I have 2 on hand in case of string breakage. Talked my friend into buying it also and he loves it. His game has improved quite a bit also. I do find that this racquet vibrates quite a bit more than my I165 which took a little getting used to but now I don't even notice it. Factory grip and string is okay and doesn't last long so be prepared. I highly recommend this racquet.

Since my original purchase of the Black Widow 160, two years ago i have had an improvement in my game that has been quite substantial! The racket allows me to maneuver from a variety of positions and i am hitting the ball better ( remembering proper positioning also). It is a lite weight racket that i have enjoyed from the first day i played with it.

I'm playing so much better since I got this racquet. I used to play with the gearbox $30 aluminum racquet, but with this racquet's tight strings, I can place balls where I want them. In addition, RacquetWorld was amazing and timely with my order. Definitely going to come back for future racquetball needs. Thank you so much!

    Exclusive RacquetWorld Racquet Ratings

Ratings and comparisons for all racquets can be found in RacquetWolrd Exclusive Racquet Ratings

    Racquetworld's Durability Rating:  92.00

    Racquetworld's Power Rating: Age 24-  96.52  Age 35  95.02  Age 45+  94.03

    Racquetworld's Control Rating #1 (Front Court):  98.77

Control 1 (Front Court) represents how the racquet handles upfront in the court. We are basically looking at how certain components stacked together to produce good (or bad) racquet maneuverability. To figure this out we look at the weight, balance point, and shape of the frame. We throw all this info into Pat's brain along with a couple hours of hit testing and out pops the rating. This value is useful especially for doubles players who find themselves covering the upfront court a lot. It is also good to know if you are a good server and find yourself quickly putting away returns off your serve without leaving front middle court.

    Racquetworld's Control Rating #2 (Back Court):  98.01

Control 2 (Back Court) represents the traditional control rating when taking a full shot from mid to back court. Our goal with control is to redirect the Force of the ball. We again focus on weight, balance point, shape, string pattern and tension, frame stiffness and on court experience.

    Racquetworld's Overall Rating: Age 24-   97.06   Age 35  96.31   Age 45+  95.82

    Inner Grommet System 2

    IGS2

The next generation of Head's revolutionary Inner Grommet System Technology, IGS2, eliminates exterior grommet holes delivering optimal stiffness, but with less weight. Each tube is now lined with Teflon friction reducing polymer allowing the strings to slide through the IGS tubes with nearly no friction. This results in maximum energy transfer which increases power on every shot.

    Power Channels

    Power Channels

Head takes Power Channels to the next level! This power technology is created through molded tubes in the throat, eliminating exterior string holes and the traditional grommet system. This lengthens each main string and creates maximum stiffness which results in an incredible increase in raw power. The Power Channels are now equiped with Teflon friction reducing polymer allowing the strings to slide through the Power Channels with nearly no friction resulting in maximum energy transfer which increases power on every shot

    Corrurated Technology 2

CT2 - (an upgrade from CT technology) which incorporates corrugated rails on all sides of the racquet throat resulting in explosive power on every shot.

    Power Stabilizers

    Power Stabilizers

Head panteted twin-tube technology has been strategically positioned in the head of the racquet to provide maximum stability on every shot.

    DuraZone String Pattern

    DuraZone String Pattern

Head engineers have eliminated 33% of the grommet holes in the head of the racquet by developing innovative shared ports. This results in increased durability and maximum stiffness. In addition, Head has lowered the Power Channels deeper into the throat of the racquet increasing the length of each main string for more power.
