One of the most sought out Gearbox racquet series of all time is finally back in stock at an unreal price and it is only available at The GB250 series is what started it all for Gearbox in helping make them the powerhouse racquet manufacturer they are today. These racquets come in 165g Tear, 165g Quad, 165g Quad Feather, 170g Tear and 185g Quad weights. When the GB 250 series sold for $200 it was hard to keep in stock and now that it is below $130 it will be even harder. Pick up 1, 2 or 3 before it’s too late as this will be one of the best deals we have available in this price range.

    RacquetWorld General Notes

RacquetWorld recommends changing the grip to a Python (Our favorite), which will be $11.00 installed, for the added traction to prevent slippage.  The Racquetworld Grommet Tape upgrade ($1) can save you $$ in the long run as sometimes strings break from the grommet being worn down. For those who don't know what the grommet is, it's the plastic piece at the top of the racquet that the strings go through. When you hit the wall and floor this gets worn down.

The Python Atlas string upgrade is recommended because factory string is less playable/durable than the Python Atlas string we suggest. At the time of purchase, the Python Atlas restring upgrade is $22.00.  It's normally $36 if you mailed the racquet to us later so you save $14 if you choose the upgrade right away. Another string we highly recommend is the Python Atlas Deluxe restring upgrade ($25.00), and it’s a little softer than the original Atlas for those players that prefer a softer string with incredible playability/durability.

If you choose a vibration dampener go with the Python Vibration Dampner (Our favorite), Head Megasorb, Gamma Worm or the BBB (Big Bad Band).

The wristlacer black is the default wrist tether that comes on your racquet at no charge. If you want to change colors, a small fee of $2.95 will be added for switching.

A question we get everyday is "What is Grommet Tape?"It's a piece of tape that goes over the head (bumper) of your racquet. Sometimes you need a restring because of a broken bumper. For an extra buck to add this, it could save you $25-40!!

We get follow up calls/emails everyday thanking us for the upgrades as they really help bring out the performance of the racquet.

    Not yet impressed

Nine games with this racquet and less than impressed so far. The blend of power and control leaves both lacking. I was hoping for a racquet to replace my favorite Ektalon Copper that finally cracked and work into the rotation with my E-force Heatseeker and Apocalypse. Next match my friend is going to try it out. The grip seems to run small despite ordering the 3 5/8 and seems head heavy. Another few outing will determine whether it gets a thicker grip tape and more testing or becomes relegated to backup status if the other 2 break. Keep you posted.

I'm always hesitant to get a new racquet because I get use to my regular one. But, I needed to have an extra on hand for tournaments. I am loving this new racquet. It's my go to racquet now instead of the other one. 5 Stars!! Plus this company is so cool, they threw in a free bag and glove? Who does that? Thank you!!!

    Loving It So Far!!
    Verified Buyer
This is my first Gearbox Racquet. I've had several Head racquets & a couple Ektelons. I broke the frame on 3 of the Heads so I thought I would try something different. The ratings were good so giving it a try. I have had it for about 4 weeks now & been pleasantly surprised with the performance. It seems to be more accurate on both long & short shots. One of the guys I play with uses a Gearbox & he was typically outscoring me. Now that I have been using this racquet, the scores are a lot closer & I've been winning more regular. This fast became my go to racquet. I'm 60 and we still play very competitive. I hope the durability of this racquet is superior to the racquets I have had in the past. Time will tell. Good Luck with your game!

250 GB...should have bought it 1 year ago

Made the mistake and started playing with 41y and the cheapest Raquet I found at a local store...elbow didn’t like it! The GB250 takes vibrations almost completely out without feeling is awesome, went for the top notch string...well not sure if it’s required. Standard about fine as well as one of my colleagues bought the same but with the standard strings. Thicker grip in combination with a glove feels so much better. NICE!

3rd racquet purchased in 11 months
    Verified Buyer
...and quickly became my go to. Significant upgrade in power, no drop off in control. Feels quite a bit heavier than my 2 170g weight racquets, but the drive serves are landing in and the passing shots are passing. High marks, unless you are someone I play a lot and then my answer is the racquet sucks, don't buy it.

This is a noticeable improvement over my old Ektelon 03. Plenty of power and allows for better touch shots. I got the 3 15/16 grip, which allows me to lightly grip the racquet and increase power. Frame is very strong and stable.

    feels good
    Verified Buyer
The racquet is tight and provides a solid feel when striking the ball. It seems lighter than the 185g it's supposed to be. I had added a grip, and it works well even without a glove. Time will tell on the sturdiness (I tend to be aggressive at getting all the returns, against the wall, near the floor, etc..). I would recommend the head tape. I'm an old guy, and went with the recommendations that the heavier racquet might help with the power shots. So far I haven't noticed much of a difference.

    Great Racquet
    Verified Buyer
I've played with just about every brand out there, with my last racquet being an Ektelon Copper. When it was time to change it out, I took a chance buying this without every picking one up, as everyone I know who plays with a Gearbox loves them. I'm happy I took that chance. This is a great racquet for me. I'm 50+ but still a power player. Being head heavy seems to be what my stroke likes the best. I was so happy with it, I immediately bought another. Plus I got the Gearbox glove and was really happy with that too.

    Exclusive RacquetWorld Racquet Ratings

Ratings and comparisons for all racquets can be found in RacquetWolrd Exclusive Racquet Ratings

    Racquetworld's Durability Rating:  99.25

    Racquetworld's Power Rating: Age 24-  94.56  Age 35  96.53  Age 45+  95.99

    Racquetworld's Control Rating #1 (Front Court):  93.58

Control 1 (Front Court) represents how the racquet handles upfront in the court. We are basically looking at how certain components stacked together to produce good (or bad) racquet maneuverability. To figure this out we look at the weight, balance point, and shape of the frame. We throw all this info into Pat's brain along with a couple hours of hit testing and out pops the rating. This value is useful especially for doubles players who find themselves covering the upfront court a lot. It is also good to know if you are a good server and find yourself quickly putting away returns off your serve without leaving front middle court.

    Racquetworld's Control Rating #2 (Back Court):  94.07

Control 2 (Back Court) represents the traditional control rating when taking a full shot from mid to back court. Our goal with control is to redirect the Force of the ball. We again focus on weight, balance point, shape, string pattern and tension, frame stiffness and on court experience.

    Racquetworld's Overall Rating: Age 24-   94.41   Age 35  95.40   Age 45+  97.59
