About Jim Winterton - Jim began his racquetball career the same time he began his English teaching career. In July 2008 he retired after 29 years on the job. During that time he coached high school varsity tennis, and football. In 1990 he started a decade long head coaching job of the USA team. During that decade his teams were undefeated, and he is the only coach in USA history to coach in three Pan Am Games, 1995 in Argentina, 1999 in Canada, and in 2003 in the Dominican Republic. He resigned his position in 1999 and coached Mexico to the first gold medals in that country's history in 2000. He came back to the USA in 2002 and helped restore the USA team to the World Championship that the team had fallen short of in 2000. In 2003 he led the team to two golds, five silvers and a bronze medal in the Pan Ams. In 1995 and 1999 he served as adult and junior team coach. His junior teams were undefeated as well.

The athletes Jim currently coaches are a "who's who" in the racquetball world. Kane Waselenchuk, Rhonda Rajsich, Keely Franks, Jo Shattuck, and a stable of junior players are the headliners, but he also teaches introductory lessons, and often flies home after working with the top players in the world, and teaches beginners and intermediates at his home clubs. He certifies coaches and pros through the International and American Professional Racquetball Organizations. Recently, Jim has gone international, with teaching and coaching stints in Ireland, Mexico, and Korea.

What is a meeting? A meeting is a phone conversation or online conversation with Coach Winterton. During this conference, strengths, weaknesses, and a plan will be developed in the schedule. The schedule is important as it will be based around your own personal schedule.

What is a “schedule”? You will be assigned skill work, conditioning work, and functional training based on your individual needs. The schedule sets up exactly what you are going to do each day of the month, two weeks, or one week depending upon the plan you choose.

How exactly does the goal setting and sports psychology thing work? In the pro plan, the goals and specific pressure decisions during match play are discussed. In the other plans, Gold and Platinum, questionnaires will be administered that will specifically target weaknesses.

How do I get “feedback”? All you do is submit a video for analysis. This can be done in a number of ways, from snail mailing a cd or dvd, to posting on utube, to using an online video camera service such as Flip Video. Coach Winterton also has a telestration tool available online that you can register with for free and see your mechanics and footwork dissected by Coach Winterton.

What is the “telestrator” reading? A neat tool to analyze your racquetball game. You send him a video clip, or upload it on the website he sends you, and he will analyze and send you the feedback both written and oral.

What other resources do I have at my disposal? A complete six hour long lesson program from Coach Winterton online is free for Gold and Platinum members. This service is available for $26 for pro members. For Gold and Platinum members a free cd with skills and drills, as well as informational sports psychology and nutrition articles, is free. Sorry, this cd is not available for pro members.

Why six months or one year enrollment? The reason for the long term enrollment is to protect you. To improve any program takes at least one year to see significant gains. We realize some people want shorter programs so the six month program was instituted.

How do I know this will work? Coach Winterton has a record unlike any coach in the sport. No coach has taught more players and no coach has had more national and pro champions.
