Description of the Racquet
Head's made a major change for the 2008-2009 season with their new AMP technology. The racquet head shape is slightly different than the Extreme and MX (closer to the liquid metal line head shape) and they all include their new revolutionary AMP technology. AMP is integrated into the critical throat area where traditionally power is lost during ball impact. Lab testing confirms AMP technology delivers 20% more stiffness than conventional racquet design, resulting in more energy return. The uniquely designed dual beams work together creating a counterbalance effect for an explosive increase in raw power with every swing.
This year the racquet series comes in 175, 185 and 195 gram weights. Our younger players will prefer the 175 and our slightly older players prefer the 185 or 195 frames as the extra weight will help to carry the swing through.

RacquetWorld's General Notes
I would recommend changing the grip to a Python (Our favorite), or Head TackiMac for the added traction to prevent slippage. The Racquetworld Grommet Tape upgrade ($1) can save you $$ in the long run as sometimes strings break from the grommet being worn down. For those who don't know what the grommet is, it's the plastic piece at the top of the racquet that the strings go through. When you hit the wall and floor this gets worn down.
The Prince Premier string upgrade is recommended because factory string is less playable/durable then the Prince Premier string we suggest. At the time of purchase, the Prince Premier restring upgrade is $21.95. It's normally $36 if you mailed the racquet to us later so you save $14 if you choose the upgrade right away.
If you choose a vibration dampener go with the Ektelon Silencer (Our favorite), Head Hydrosorb, Gamma Worm or the BBB (Big Bad Band).
The wristlacer black is the default wrist tether that comes on your racquet at no charge. If you want to change colors, a small fee of $2.95 will be added for switching.
A question we get everyday is "What is Grommet Tape?" It's a piece of tape that goes over the head (bumper) of your racquet. Sometimes you need a restring because of a broken bumper. For an extra buck to add this, it could save you $25-40!!

MicroGel... NEW for 2007-2008
Micro Gel is a revolutionary silicone-based material that support up to 4,000 times it's own weight; this low density material is injected between the graphite layers throughout the entire frame. Upon ball impact the Head MicroGel compresses, absorbing and dispersing the impact to the entire frame, then returns quickly to its original shape. This creates incredible performance with Rock Solid Power.
Metallix... NEW for 2006-2007

So what is MX? It stands for Metallix which is a specially developed Matrix of carbon fibers and a new crystalline metal alloy. This alloy's grain size is 1000 times smaller than those of a typical metal, and by decreasing grain size, you increase performance. Overall, Metallix allows for a stronger, stiffer, and more powerful construction.

The megablast technology served to be a success for Head last year as we named it Racquetworld's 2003-2004 racquet of the year. IT HIT'S HARD! Head decided to move into the power racquet market this year with the world's first string-bed energy return system. A specially formulated super thermo-polymer material called HEAD ENERGY is placed under the bumper guard and grommet area effectively suspending the entire string bed. Upon ball impact and deflection of the string bed, the HEAD ENERGY material explodes back to its original shape creating an incredible "trampoline effect" for unprecedented ball acceleration.
DuraZone String Pattern
Head engineers have eliminated 33% of the grommet holes in the head of the racquet by developing innovative shared ports. This results in increased durability and maximum stiffness. In addition, Head has lowered the Power Channels deeper into the throat of the racquet increasing the length of each main string for more power.

Racquetworld's Control Rating #1 (Front Court): 90.09
Control 1 (Front Court) represents how the racquet handles upfront in the court. We’re basically looking at how certain components stacked together produce good (or bad) racquet maneuverability. To figure this out we look at the weight, balance point, and shape of the frame. We throw all this info into Pat’s brain along with a couple hours of hit testing and out pops the rating. This value is useful especially for doubles players who find themselves covering the upfront court a lot. It’s also good to know if you’re a good server and find yourself quickly putting away returns off your serve without leaving front middle court.
Racquetworld's Control Rating #2 (Back Court): 92.07
Control 2 (Back Court) represents the traditional control rating when taking a full shot from mid to back court. Our goal with control is to redirect the Force of the ball. We again focus on weight, balance point, shape, string pattern and tension, frame stiffness and on court experience.
